A Bilingual Bloom: Exploring Flowers in English and Spanish
Teeny Tiendas: The Flower Shop/La florería takes you through Mrs. Rosario’s flower shop. You discover the various flowers she sells in English and Spanish.
What I Liked: I am so excited to see that books are now being written in English and Spanish for young children to teach them the languages. This book is a great introduction to a flower shop and the variety of flowers that you see there. This book introduced me to terms that I was not already familiar with and it was helpful that the English translation was on the previous page.
Each page has only a few words, making it perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. Each item in the images is labeled with both the English and Spanish terms for the flowers. The closing of this book reintroduces all of the flowers that you have seen throughout the book and asks you to pick your favorite bunch which is a great way for children to interact with the book.
Final Verdict: Teeny Tiendas: The Flower Shop/La florería is a cute board book with vibrant images that teaches young children English and Spanish.
