Engaging and Informative
The Big Questions Answered series is quickly becoming one of my favorite nonfiction series. Each book poses a question that immediately captures a reader’s attention. The title itself is so exciting – Can Volcanoes Turn the Moon Blue? It almost sounds like magic, but author Olivia Watson shows us there is a scientific explanation for why that happens.
What I Liked: Like other books in the series, this book is filled with interesting facts, such as that volcanoes can hide under the ocean. Some of the concepts in this book seem a bit complex, but they are explained in an age-appropriate way, making them understandable for the target audience. The illustrations are brightly colored and help to explain the information on the page. The bonus information at the end of the book, including a QR code for more activities and resources, is a nice touch.
Can Volcanoes Turn the Moon Blue is an engaging nonfiction book that those curious about science and volcanoes will enjoy.
