BLUEY AND BINGO'S BOOK OF SCARY THINGS is a lift-the-flap board book of some moments that Bluey, Bingo, and family have found frightening (or yucky). Each page gives a setup for an event, with a flap revealing the event and a sentence about it.

What I loved: Fans of the series will recognize some of these moments and enjoy revisiting the humor of them and memories of the stories. Familiar characters are great for young readers who will appreciate seeing familiar faces. Bright colors and detailed images add to the fun throughout the book. The flaps add to the fun with an interactive element that young children will appreciate.

What left me wanting more: You do need to be familiar with the shows for this book. The setups give a little bit of information about them on one page, which is needed in some cases, depending on how familiar readers are with the show. Context clues could be used by grownups to help fill in the gaps (for instance, what the thing in the pool is and why it might be scary). Some of the events are not fantastic for the topic, such as dad passing gas. The flaps are also glued on to the page, and so would be easy to rip off. When they are torn off, readers will lose some of the text and sometimes images, which can then make the book tough to use.

Final verdict: Overall, BLUEY AND BINGO'S BOOK OF SCARY THINGS will appeal to fans of the show who will enjoy revisiting various scenes with fun flaps to lift.
