In this charming, golden, forest frolic, Squirrel and Bird inspire us to see past first appearances and be our true selves. Squirrel is loud and Bird is shy…according to the narrator anyway. But when there’s a concert, Bird has had ENOUGH of this label and is unafraid to show the world his quiet confidence, while Squirrel also proves he is a supportive friend and knows how to give others center stage.
The fun interplay between the characters and the narrator is unique and engaging, while the simple text makes for an easy read. There’s details to love in every illustration and lots of cute forest friends, including a hedgehog, a toad, and a mouse. At it’s heart, this is a story of two friends sharing a happy moment and a hobby together and the limitations we often subconsciously put on others when we make assumptions.
Pick this up for a cheerful, uplifting read that’s a little cheeky and sure to bring a smile every time.
