One day, a squirrel stumbles upon a mushroom and it's different from the pinecones he usually sees. Squirrel has always wanted a best friend and this mushroom looks like a great one to him. When spring comes, so does Moo and Squirrel is faced with the dilemma of having two best friends because all he really wants is one. In the end, after a whirlwind of thoughts, he finds the answer to his problem.

A BETTER BEST FRIEND teaches children about friendship and how it's possible to have more than one friend. There's a lot of humor in both the text and the illustrations and the pictures are simple, yet cute. The idea of a mushroom with a face made my daughter laugh as we read and it was fun debating with her about why a mushroom couldn't be a friend.

Final Verdict: I would recommend this to children who love animals, humor, and stories about friendship. It's a great read for school-aged children who are learning the dynamics of friendship.
