What I Liked: This book opens by introducing you to Emile as well as some of the other characters that will become important throughout the story. The illustrations in this book are soft and fluffy, I love all of the characters and their distinct characteristics. I love that Radu is a bat, more specifically, he is a vampire bat, and how this contributes to the story.

The relationships in the book Our two main characters, Radu and Emile, do seem to catch feelings rather rapidly and don’t know each other too well, which leads to some fun situations for each of them. While Radu and Emile’s relationship is expected, this book has you on the edge of your seat as you wait for them to express their feelings to each other and be able to make their relationship work, even if they are competitors.

Emile’s friend group adds some humor to the story as they are rooting for Emile and Radu, but also giving them advice about their relationship, a secret. There is a scene in which his friends are roasting him for the situations that he and Radu have been caught in, and the rumors that are spreading quickly ,which is a fun scene to read through. The villain of this story is entertaining and keeps you guessing what she will do next the whole time. There’s no end to her madness, and she will stop at nothing to remove Radu from the competition just because of something from the past. She really needs to let things go and move on.

As I completed this book, my first thought was, I need the next volume now. This book leaves you with Emile finding out some important information regarding Radu that the reader has learned about. There is mystery surrounding this for Emile as well as the reader; you get a bit of the back story regarding Radu’s family, but some things remain a mystery even to the reader.

Final Verdict: Blades of Furry is a fast-paced, action-packed graphic novel that captures your attention from the start. The characters in this book are all lovable and you will finish this book wanting more from all of them. This book is perfect for those of you who love skating, mm romance, and supportive friend groups.
