A child is curious about dinosaurs and decides to write his librarian to gather more information about dinosaurs. Through this exchange, he learns about the Technosaurous and the work of a paleontologist, Dr. Sankar Chatterjee, who helped find this dinosaur.

What I Liked: This book does a fantastic job of introducing children to letter writing, as well as the wonders that libraries have to offer. The relationship that this child develops with the librarian through letter writing is intriguing as she answers each of his questions and encourages his curiosity.

The illustrations throughout this book are simple, while highlighting what letters look like as well as introducing children to the Technosaurous. There is a two-page spread that explains more information about the Technosaurous and how it was found. This was all presented intriguingly and entertainingly, which can hold a young audience’s attention.

Final Verdict: Dear Ms Guadalupe: Letters to My Librarian is a great way to introduce letter writing to children and to explain the structure of a letter to children. Children ages 4 and up will enjoy learning about dinosaurs, and older children will laugh as they recognize just what type of animal the child in this story has stumbled upon.
