DO YOU REALLY KNOW FLAMINGOS? is a cute, colorful picture book about these pink birds! Frank E. Armadillo is an expert explorer, so of course, he knows everything about flamingos, right? As Frank learns, he doesn't really know anything about flamingos, but luckily, there is a little flamingo who is happy to teach him!

What I loved: This is a cute way to introduce some animal facts with a know-it-all armadillo that soon learns he does not know it all about flamingos! The book contains some great facts about flamingos and what we know about them (although no one knows why they like to stand on one leg!). This ends up being a humorous way to teach young readers about flamingos - with an added lesson of not making assumptions about someone based on how they look.

The level of information is just right for preschoolers and kindergarteners, though may be too basic for older picture book readers. The story is told in dialogue with a nice large font that is easy to read aloud. The format of the text adds to the fun with contradictions and silly guesses throughout.

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, there are a few pages that are really dense in text. It would have been nice to spread these out more with illustrations, but children will still enjoy it!

Final verdict: DO YOU REALLY KNOW FLAMINGOS? is an entertaining and humorous picture book that teaches young readers about these amazing pink birds!
