Flip Flap Snap: Farm by Joanna McInerney, artwork by Carmen Saldaña, will immediately engage young readers. While lifting the flaps to read about each type of farm animal the book describes – cow, dog, rooster, pig, and goat – one can also see the sounds that each animal tends to make. It is neat how the animals show up in 3D, popping out of the book, and just like in another book by McInerney and Saldaña, 'Flip Flap Snap: Dinosaurs,' the flaps move back and forth so that readers can combine farm animals and entertain themselves with crazy combinations, such as a gooster (goat and rooster), a doat (dog and goat), etc. Young children will love making the farm animal sounds and hearing others make them while they read.

The only concern would be if young children were to try to pull on the 3D aspects of the farm animals, because it would ruin the distinct nature of the book to do so, but so long as parents and adult readers stick around and read with the kids, the book can likely stay in great condition for continued reading time.

McInerney and Saldaña have put together a fantastically interesting and engaging book for young readers (and adults will enjoy reading it, too!).
