I thought this book gave you a image of how it was like as a slave back when the underground railroad was still in use. i liked the book because of all the details the author put in the book to explain the places where Martin (the slave) hid everytime the slave catchers. That is why i rated this book a 4.Mostly because it had a good moral to the story the only reason i didnt rate it a 5 is because i do not like this type of book.... i like books that have a lot more adventure in it such as Dragonlance or Lord of The Rings.

Do you like adventure books that you can learn history from? If you do, then you should read Freedom Crossing. It is about how Laura, a person who liked slavery finds out that her brother, Bert is helping slaves escape to freedom. A young boy named Martine comes to thier house to be safe. When slave catchers come, will Laura tell them about the secret compartment where they are hiding Martine? Or will she help him escape to Canada? If you want to know what happens, then read this fantastic book. It is a very interesting!!

I think this book taught about the horrors of being prejadice and how horrible slavery is. I think this book could more interesting if the author had something like pa dies of yellow fever or abbie is run over by a wagon. Many people in my grop did not like this book but the reason I rated this dbook a five is because I liked the moral of the story. I think this author could have made Walt die and all the slave catchers get exececuted and Bert join the United States Army and get captured by the cofederate states army and forced to fight for them and then be shot at the battle of gettysburg and die. I think it would be good for the author to write a sequel to this book and it be about the hardships that Laura goes through during the amercan civil war.
