HUSH-A-BYE NIGHT: GOODNIGHT LAKE SUPERIOR celebrates the life and environment surrounding Lake Superior. While I've never had the pleasure of visiting it, this book definitely makes me want to take a trip there. The melodic writing style and repetition of "Hush-a-bye" makes it a perfect bedtime story where it almost reads as a lullaby. The illustrations have a darker, yet vibrant theme that makes them feel like they're so full of life while not being too stimulating. Sounds like an odd thing but the author and illustrator coordinate the words and pictures well. I also love the undertones of the family theme and how it encourages the idea of exploring nature together. In the back of the book, there's a field guide for children to look out for while trekking around this great lake.
Final Verdict: I would recommend this to children aged four and up as a bedtime story, especially for those who enjoy nature and adventure.
