When I first picked up this book, I was curious. I had read Sarah Dessen's "That Summmer," and
"Someone like you" which where two books that I loved. I was interested to see what this was about. I turned over the cover and thought of my current situation being overweight and then losing the weight, but still feeling insecure about yourself was brought close to home for me. Though I don't have a reputation. I still get the teasing. Each teen usually goes through a time of self-doubt and missing the past. I decided to read it. I wasn't disappointed.

I enjoyed reading this book about 15 year old Colie Sparks. It starts out by Nicole saying goodbye to her mother. She motivated Colie to lose 45.5 pounds. But she still remembers the past when she got her reputation that wasn't true, and some bad experinces at school. Which is probably why Colie badly dyed her hair black and got a lip piercing. We learn and how both of them traveled and lived in there car and being overweight. And moving around the country. It all changes when Colie's mom becomes a aerobic instructer She becomes famous, and diet a guru. Her mom sends nicole to live with her aunt Mira for the summer while her mother travels through Europe and promiting her "kiki line."

Of course, Nicole doesn't want to go. And we learn about her living in this town Colby, NC
and meeting some really good characters. Like Aunt Mira and Norman. Her working at the "last chance bar and grill." Where she meets Isabel and Morgan, who give her a makeover and shows her life and confidence. Norman does that also and they begin to fall for eachother. She begins to grow more and more confidence in herself and that is what I loved.
Sarah Dessen is one of my favorite writers and she doesn't dissapoint. It taught me lessons. I love how her abilty to make characters seem so real. And her emotional growth throughout the story really inspired me. Everyone should read it. I recommend it to 13+

Well, that’s an interesting book. It is full of happiness, sadness, anger, and fun. That’s what I love about it.

Colie is a teenage girl. She adores her mom and it seems she always has. Her mom is the fitness guru, Kiki Sparks. While on her European tour, Colie lives with her aunt, Mira. Mira is quite strange, but a kind person, very hungry too. She’s overweight just as Kiki and Colie were once. So, she sends Colie to the local Last Chance Bar and Grill for food. She meets two funny waitresses who turn her summer upside down.

This book is amazing. You feel for Colie in the “Fat Years,” laugh at Mira’s antics, and just plain wonder about Norman. Girls will love the book for this. So, why is it called Keeping the Moon? I think you will have to read the book to find out! Happy reading!
