One of the first books I read by Dessen, and still one of the best :) I loved this, and it's one that I can go back and read and realize a million new details that I hadn't noticed before. Colie is a character everyone can identify with, no matter what. I loved going through her transformation along with Morgan, Isabel, her aunt, and Norman-- a great cast of characters that painted a really amazing picture, something I could easily imagine with believable situations and real emotions.
Loved it.

When I first started this book, I thought it was going to be corny and mushy.
Wow, was I wrong! The novel starts off with a teenage girl named Colie, who is being shipped off to stay with an eccentric aunt for the entire summer while her mother, famous workout-girl "Kiki Sparks" tours the country.
Colie is angry, shy, anti-social, and misunderstood when she arrives at her Aunt's house. However, she soon gets a job waiting tables at a local cafe and meets the two best friends she will ever have that teach her all about life.
This book isn't corny at all. It honestly has a special place in my heart. It's a book that any girl who has ever been feeling lost, shy, or unconfident can relate to.

My life has never been easy. But with authors like Sarah Dessen writing such awesome books as Keeping the Moon, The Truth About Forever and This Lullaby make it much easier to take. Colie learns to believe in herself, something not many Americans can do. But with a little effort, we can make it. Sarah Dessen brings hope back to young readers hearts, as she put hope in mine.

Colie has been teased cruelly all her life because of the fact that she was fat. Although she lost all the weigh, she still feels inferior to her peers and still takes in all the cruel jokes, rumors and treatment from people.
One summer her mom has to travel so she has to stay with her aunt who is very different from her mom and anyone she knows. While living with her aunt she gets a job as a waitress in a local restaurant. There she meets Isabel and Morgan. They teach her to love and stand up for herself and improve her self-esteem.
Along with that, her aunt teaches her that everyone is different and there is nothing wrong with that. No one is perfect. She learns to be herself regardless of what people say or think.

Colie Sparks is sent to Colby, North Carolina, for the summer to stay with her eccentric aunt Mira, while her mother, queen of the anti-fat infomercial, tours Europe, and she expects the worst. Colie has no friends at home, and doesn't expect to find any in Colby. But then she gets a job at a café, and fellow waitresses Morgan and Isabel show her her true potential, and it's a real eye-opener. This was my first Sarah Dessen book, and I loved it. It deals with finding yourself, something every teenager can relate to.

Fifteen-year-old Colie has a tough time believing in her-self, being recently fat and friendless she expects to always be kicked like a dog. During the summer Colie is sent away to her ants house by her mom. While her mom goes to Europe promoting her famous weight loss programs as Kiki. Colie has been taunted with the words of cruel jokes all her life. This book will take you on a journey of self-discovery, self-respect, and self-esteem. I thought this book was great. Colie didn’t believe, with a little help she not only made her-self believe but everyone around her. Sarah Dessen has written an inspiring novel that I will hold dear to my heart. I also highly recommend The Truth About Forever, Someone like You, Dream Land, and This Lullaby.

Dessen has done it again. Keeping the Moon is such an inspiring novel on how to be true to yourself and excepting who you are. I loved the main character and how she had to deal with being "fat." In today's world, I notice alot of peers making fun of people who are fat with no thought of how mean they are being. If they had read this book once and actually understood it, I believe it would've changed their views. I know I learned alot

Keeping the moon is about a girl named Colie who spends her summer with her eccentric Aunt. During the coarse of the summer Colie learns some valuable lessons that help her to be more confident.
I love this book and it is my second favorite next to "this lullaby". Sarah Dessen has a way of creating characters that are completely believable and relatable. I highly recommend every girl read this book.

As much as I love to read, I wouldn't recommend this novel. The story of a teenage girl who goes to a small town for the summer, leaving behind her friends, her home, and everything she knows, Keeping the Moon is as typical as young adult dramas get. It's an after-school special in literary form, which ties itself in a neat little bow by the end. It's neither badly written nor uninteresting -- I simply believe that there are better ways for readers to spend their time. For a good teen-angsty read, get Catcher in the Rye out of your system. You'll remember that one forever.

The book Keeping The Moon which was written by Sarah Dessen is about a young girl who goes to live with her aunt while her mother is working on her dieting plan to publicize it. While she is living with her aunt, she learns the reason for why she was always made fun of, and she learns that what you think of yourself is more important than what anyone else does. I enjoyed this book becuase of it's many different types of characters.
