Let's Get Spooky is a fun seek & find book, with the central theme being location that can be a bit frightful.
This book is designed to give young readers a taste of terror in a safe and controlled environment.
Using brief blocks of text, this book guides readers through five spooky locales with two spreads each. Children can safely visit a graveyard at night, a vampires castle, a haunted forest and three other like places. On the first spread, readers are introduced to a frightening character and some historical information relevant to that character. While there are some fun facts, the writing itself seems a bit clunky to me. It doesn't roll off the tongue well, making this a book I wouldn't enjoy reading aloud.
The second spread is a detailed, seek-and-find style image with select questions to direct readers’ attention. The illustrations fit the theme perfectly! Dark colors and spooky elements are included, enhancing the dark nature of the storytelling.
Printed on thick, cardstock pages with a glow-in-the-dark cover, this title makes a statement in both its design and presentation.
Great for young readers who love a spooky thrill from time to time!
