LET'S COUNT! is a fun board book to introduce numbers up to 10 to young readers. The book features a basic abacus of 10 beads in the middle that can be used on every page. Readers are invited to count a certain number of objects on each page, which are labeled in their counting order for each number up to 10.
What I loved: This is a fantastic early math book! I love the simplicity of the design and the counting aids that appear on every page. The backgrounds are mostly bright, solid colors with a focus on the objects to be counted. The objects themselves are labeled with their counting order numbers, which is so great for early number recognition and for helping children to learn counting strategies. For instance, on the page with 9 strawberries, they appear in 2 rows, with the top left strawberry labeled as 1 all the way to the bottom right strawberry labeled as 9.
The objects are well chosen with photographs being used for the counting items. Young readers love these realistic images and will enjoy counting on each page. The rainbow beads in the middle are very sturdily adhered to the book and slide across easily to add some extra interest and help with counting. There is so much to learn about counting and math for the littlest readers in this book!
Final verdict: LET'S COUNT! is a delightful early math board book that toddlers will love to visually explore, with bright colors, thoughtful counting aids, and rainbow-colored beads!
