MY FIRST BLACK AND WHITE BOOK: TOUCH! is an accordion-style board book that is made for Tummy Time. The book opens up to show a bunch of images, without words, that use die cut board book pages to create some texture.
What I loved: The images are very high contrast, primarily in black and white (though some pops of color are included throughout). These end up being very attention-grabbing. The accordion-style works well for Tummy Time, making it easy to stand up for baby to look at. The pages are connected by ribbons, which ends up being quite strong and durable, so it can be opened again and again, with the direction of the pages being very flexible. The die-cut pages are also quite durable, as they are well-secured and generally flat (so there are no edges to rip off for rough little hands).
What left me wanting more: While the die-cut board book pages do create some texture, for a book featuring touch, other textures and feels would be helpful. For instance, something soft, sticky, rough, bumpy, etc. There are also no words or storyline in the imagery, so the use of the book would be limited for the youngest children.
Final verdict: MY FIRST BLACK AND WHITE BOOK: TOUCH! is a fun Tummy Time board book that will easy stand up and grab visual attention.
