From gardens to grocery stores all around the world, readers are taken on an informative food tour!
Our Big Table teaches readers about where their food comes from, how different types of produce grow, what kind of variants there are, and what recipes they appear in! Historical and fun facts are sprinkled throughout, such as the one found on page 40, where they discuss the origin of the word "pizza."
The author includes easy recipes throughout the book, from an "anti-waste pesto" to a hazelnut spread. They also thoughtfully discussed alternatives to animal products (such as plant-based milks) and about food different allergies. There are several pages that speak of sustainability, and things one can do to reduce waste.
With engaging illustrations and short but informative sections on all of the different foods that are covered in the text, Our Big Table is an accessible read for just about any age group.
At the end of the book, there is a QR code parents/educators can scan to download resources to pair with Our Big Table.
A must own book for anyone interested in nutrition or wanting to know where our food comes from!
