“Our World: Canada” by Melanie Florence, with art by Carey Sookocheff, takes readers through a variety of pages that show some of the fun things to do in Canada, including playing hockey, eating crepes with maple syrup, picking up leaves, playing hide and seek in the park, and walking dogs in the snow. While one can do any of these activities elsewhere, the book showcases how Canada is a special place for these activities, especially when doing them with family.
There are three different languages that are mentioned throughout the book, with translations for some of the words scattered throughout the pages. The languages are English, French, and Cree. The back matter of the book includes short paragraphs that explain different aspects of Canadian culture and the importance behind each.
Young readers will find themselves engaged with this easy to read story about fun to be had and words to be learned.
