Saif's Special Patches

Saif wants to do so many different things, but he's too shy and too scared. His parents think otherwise and encourage him all along the way. When Saif has a bad day, his mother shows him how all of the patches that make up the quilt she's making for him were all from important days where Saif completed a milestone. He then decides he wants to make the quilt grow faster, but he struggles to do so because he isn't ready for the next step with things, such as swimming. His parents remind him that it's okay to take time to overcome tasks and it doesn't make him any less brave or strong. Saif learns, just like his patchy quilt, he's still growing.

SAIF'S SPECIAL PATCHES is a children's picture book that shows appreciation for a parent's encouragement and teaches children that growing takes time. It shows them the importance of staying positive while reaching them to build self-confidence. I love also getting a peak into a different culture and the dedication to making these quilts is incredible. The quilts are symbolic of one's accomplishments and a visual reminder of how strong or brave you can be. The illustrations are bold and vibrant and I love the detailing with the quilt.


Final Verdict: I would recommend this to children aged four and older who need a little more encouragement and self-confidence in their life. It's also a great look at how different cultures celebrate life.
