Sorcery and Strife is the compelling second novel in the Sorcery and Sacrifice series. If you read book one first, you will enjoy book two way more, but it can be read before book one if preferred. In this second novel, we follow Fenity, who has lived her whole life in the world far from the pomp and politics of the court. Soon, her life is uprooted, and she is forced into a marriage competition due to the new ranks of her parents. The strife is that 40 contestants have been raised their whole lives to be part of this competition, and Fenity is thrown to wolves. Fenity would rather die than be part of this circus performance, but soon, all that is thrown out the window. Fenity is a compelling, strong character, and the lengths she goes to stay true to who she always was and hide her secrets are extreme. I was biting my nails the whole last half of the book, wondering how it would all play out, knowing what I knew from reading book one. The author does a fabulous job of connecting the two books and telling a heart-aching tale. I would read more from her.
