Spotlight on Cynthia Erivo is one of the most engaging children’s book biographies for young readers that I have ever read. The authors take big parts of Cynthia’s identity and directly make them relatable to how young people can be like her too, such as asking Do you sing anywhere and everywhere? Then gives examples of Cynthia as a kid and how she hummed at the dinner table as a toddler. The examples of her life are approachable for young readers to understand and are inspiring. It also hits on how Cynthia is an advocate of living your truth and how she supports LGBTQ+ rights with a nice reference back to her character in Wicked. The smaller-sized book, vivid illustrations, and a cover that is bright and sparkly with homage to the huge hit, Wicked, are sure to entice readers to check it out
