This book made me have to take an extra blood pressure pill! The tension is so high that even in the calm scenes, I was constantly on edge in fear that Lacy, the main character, was going to get caught sneaking a few moments of happiness in her nightmare existence inside the hellish cult known as The Way. The author also does a fantastic job of populating the cult with the perfect mix of repugnant and poignant characters that take you down an emotional gauntlet as you cheer Lacy on in her struggle to escape The Way with her mother, her sanity, her dignity and her LIFE! And I absolutely loved the open ending that allows for so much hope. Great story!
Good Points
The storyline and characters are what make this book so great! You really feel something for every character. Sometimes it's love and sometimes it's intense hatred, but they all make you feel something and that's what I love in a book!

This book was hard to put down from the moment I started it. I was so intrigued by the fact that a girl was in a cult against her will, but pretending to be a believer. That fact alone made the mental torture more than severe. I couldn't imagine being in a situation like that. The author paints the characters in such a way that you feel like you know them, and I was cheering by the end when the "reverend" got what was coming to him. I highly recommend this book!
Good Points
There were times I got chills worrying what would happen to Lacy.
