WEATHER is a simple picture book that introduces the concept of weather. There are three scenes around rain, hot, and snow. Each scene features a few characters playing in the weather with smaller pages that change the scenes slightly. The characters have small stories through these page turns.
What I loved: This is a cute book that names some weather concepts for little readers. There are mini-stories in the weather scenes with children playing in the puddles or building snowmen and similar. These are fun ways for children to understand how they interact with these types of weather and think about how they feel.
The book is very short and simple. The pages are thick, like cardstock, and this makes them tough to tear. This durable format is great for little readers who may be rough with their books.
What left me wanting more: Other than naming the weather and showing people in it, the book does not describe the weather or explain it. For instance, talking about how rain falls from the sky or anything. It would have been great to give more of a taste of what the weather is or how it works in basic terms. Likewise, there is not a story carried across the pages, so it feels a little disjointed.
Final verdict: WEATHER is a cute picture book for young readers that introduces the concept of weather. It will work best for the youngest of readers who will appreciate the interesting page turns and simplicity.
