What Plant Is This follow a jay hawk in search of something to eat as the winter months approach in a fun life-the-flap style.

We move through the book as the jay hawk flies through the forest and surrounding areas, including fields and meadows, determined to find what she needs. There are several flaps to lift in order to reveal what she's found and whether she has first dibs or if another animal has beaten her to it, as well as interesting facts about select plants.

I found myself wanting more out of the plot, as we never actually see the jay hawk gather food, whether it be for now or to store for the winter.

The illustrations are inviting and fun, encouraging readers to get out and explore.

This approach was an engaging and satisfying way to introduce various plants and trees to a young audience, sparking a want to learn more.
