About the Book:
It’s been centuries since a warm-season fairy in Pixie Hollow has crossed into the Winter Woods, and while most fear the legends of monsters lurking in the frozen lands, Clarion, can’t help being intrigued by Winter’s stoic beauty. But under the watchful eyes of the current monarch and the court’s seasonal ministers, Clarion has little time to dwell on daydreams while the days to her coronation dwindle away.
That is, until reports of a monster crossing from Winter into Spring make their way to the palace. Clarion sees defeating this threat as an opportunity to prove that she is worthy of her new role. But instead of finding a monster at the edge of Winter, she finds Milori, a young guardian of the Winter Woods. Together, they form an unlikely bond as they race to save their lands.
But as their alliance warms to something more, they will discover there is a reason a warm-season fairy and a winter fairy must not be together. And the cost could be just as deadly as the monsters that prowl the Winter Woods.
Discover the origin of the sweeping, star-crossed romance between the queen of Pixie Hollow and the lord of the Winter Woods.

Allison Saft’s writing style is gentle and dreamlike, making her a perfect choice for Disney’s Wings of Starlight. Set in Pixie Hollow and following Princess Clarion, it feels like the Tinker Bell movies, but for a slightly older age group. I listened to an audiobook of the book, and the narrator does a fantastic job sounding innocent and whimsical, perfectly encapsulating the character and setting of Disney’s version of the fairy realm.
There is a conflict of nightmares getting free and putting those attacked into a fear-filled slumber, but with the soft and gentle dialogue and the fairies’ worldview it never feels dangerous. The nightmares are the conflict that brings Princess Clarion and the Winter Wardon, Milori, together to experience their first feelings of romantic love.
The magical system presents the most danger because a summer fairy like her cannot be safe in the winter realm without protective gear, and the winter fairies can’t come to the warmer climates without melting their wings. With her best friend being a tinker fairy, I kept expecting a solution to this so they could overcome the odds and live happily ever after. Therefore, the ending left me disappointed with the decision Queen Clarion makes. I have to question whether there will be a return to these characters in a future book.
Overall, this is a clean romance and a light plot, making it perfect for younger YA readers. Fans of Disney’s Tinker Bell will enjoy the return to Pixie Hollow with all-new characters in this standalone story.
