When Ruby starts at her new school, she sits behind Angela. Angela has a big red bow in her hair. Soon Ruby has a big red bow in HER hair. Angela mentions she was a bridesmaid at her sister's wedding . . .so, it seems, was Ruby. And on and on it goes, with Ruby doing everything Angela does.
Finally, the well-named Miss Hart tells Ruby to be herself. . .and Ruby copies Miss Hart's manicure! But at last Ruby does something that only she excels at, and it's a huge hit.
Kids are sure to identify with either the urge to imitate or the frustration of being copied. Rathmann's illustrations are (as always) delightful. This is an enjoyable tale with an excellent satisfying ending.
