If you are a dog owner, a dog lover, or just have a child obsessed with getting a pup, then Stay! A Top Dog Story by Alex Latimer is the perfect addition to your library.

Ben loves his often-unruly dog, Buster. Buster may be a hot mess of a canine in the discipline department, but Ben would not have him any other way. When the family takes a vacation—sans Buster—Ben leaves oodles of notes for Grampa on how to care for Buster while he’s gone.

My son LOVES our dog, so Stay! was a perfect read for us. Even though Buster has some issues (like behaving) Ben’s love for him never wavers. In fact, Ben sends note after note to Grampa because there is one last thing he forgot. This is so very true for the child/dog relationship.

Stay! is a beautifully illustrated book depicting the relationship between a boy and his best friend. The pages illustrating the various notes Ben sends to Grampa and my favorite parts. From the best places in which to scratch Buster (pictures included), to bath time necessities, to hugging causing spontaneous flatulence, there is humor, truth, and well thought out advice for Grampa.

From the first page to the last, Stay! oozes with warmth and love. All readers can enjoy this enchanting tale of the perfectly infallible love between a child and their dog. Just be careful not to hug too hard.
