‘Donkey Hodie Helps an Elephant,’ a Level One Ready-to-Read book, showcases the adorable new series of ‘Donkey Hodie’ available on PBS Kids. A Fred Rogers Production, ‘Donkey Hodie’ is a sweet and friendship-filled tale. The book includes easy sight words, a simple plot and dialogue between characters, and familiar topics and themes that will interest any young reader.

When Grampy Hodie asks Donkey Hodie to take his pet elephant, Gregory, for a walk, Donkey Hodie thinks it will be a breeze. Little does he know that Gregory will be extremely hesitant to move, and Donkey will have to figure out how to make him get where he needs to go. From skateboards to peanuts, balls to songs, Donkey tries everything that he and his friends can think of to solve the problem, but it’s not quite as easy as it seems. When she takes the time to think things through, she finally comes up with a solution, and lo and behold, Gregory moves!

Young children will learn that taking your time, thinking things through, talking it out, and working with others can be some of the most important tools in solving difficult problems they may come across.
