Multifunctional is the word of the day
What Worked: The book is focused on teaching the vocabulary word, multifunctional. Chico Bon Bon demonstrates the word when he creates devices for the couch and a new leash for Elkin John’s dog. At the back of the book, several more examples are given of multifunctional such as cell phones and invite the reader to think of other examples.
Final Verdict: This is a big word that is broken down into understandable parts that a younger child can comprehend. I like the text-to-world invitation at the end when readers are invited to come up with other examples of multifunctional objects in their life. Adults will likely get a chuckle that the character that is helped is the famous singer, Elkin John. The text is a nice large font that is easy to see for young readers just learning how to track text. There are a few hard words along the way that readers may need help with. The only thing that left me wanting a bit more is the size of the pictures. At times they were a bit small and boxed in.
