Following the success of When Cloud Became a Cloud comes Rob Hodgson’s next long-form picture book about the moon’s origin and phases. This delightfully fun exploration into the moon both informs and entertains, and helps young readers make sense of the world around them. The charming protagonist, Moon, sparsely narrates her story in eleven short chapters with text bubbles and vignettes sprinkled in to provide wit, style, and humor. Young audiences will immediately connect to the colorful, whimsical art and welcome a sense of accomplishment in devouring this unexpected, yet wholly accessible scientific book.

When Moon Became the Moon is a fun and educational children's read.
The book features several short chapters and sparse text, making for an easy beginner reader book!
Despite its short stature, the book is full of educational tidbits, such as how the moon was formed, how it helps the Earth stay balanced, and about its orbit!
I wasn't a huge fan of the illustrations, I found some of them slightly creepy with the big eyes.. like that one photo filter everyone seemed to really enjoy! That being said, my children got a kick out of them.
I did rather like the illustrations about the moon phases, they were beautifully done and captured the essence of the different phases well.
When Moon Became the Moon would make a fun introduction story for young children interested in all things space!
