Princess Minna is surprised when a giant beanstalk appears in her kingdom. Soon after, animals start going missing and it's up to Minna to save them. It turns out this beanstalk is home to a giant. Can Minna figure out what she really wants before she strikes again?
What I Liked: I do enjoy the new takes on old fairytales and how Minna is always ready to help her people. The animals in the kingdom are funny and kids will love thier antics. The giant seems scary at first, but she is just lonely and I loved the solution they came up with in the end.
Final Verdict: Minna is a great character who is always ready to help others, even when she is scared. This is a great message for children. It would be beneficial for children who want to read stories that are a little more involved too. I would recommend it.
Good Points
A fun story that kids will love

PRINCESS MINNA: THE GIANT BEANSTALK is a delightful new chapter book with lots of color and a story about solving problems. Princess Minna is frequently fixing the problems that arise in her kingdom, so when there is a large beanstalk and a giant stealing animals, Minna is ready to help. She soon discovers a giant has been searching for an animal whose beautiful voice she hears all the way in the sky. After some discussion, Minna figures out the giant is looking for Mildred, the musical cow that annoys the townspeople, and Minna comes up with a solution that will make everyone happy.

What I loved: This is another fun installment in the Princess Minna series that modifies from fairytales for brand new adventures. There are plenty of silly moments for readers to giggle at (of course, you have to be careful where you drop your magic beans!) and the overall story is a clever one that changes the story of the beanstalk and giant. In the end, Minna finds a solution that works for everyone and saves the day.

The book is highly illustrated and colorful with every page in full color and with cartoonish images. These work so well for young independent readers who are advancing from picture books but not yet ready to leap into full chapter books. The amount of text on each page varies, which also works well to not tire readers out. They can explore at their own pace and enjoy all the images and color along the way!

Final verdict: PRINCESS MINNA: THE GIANT BEANSTALK is a fun chapter book about solving problems and finding solutions that is perfect for advancing independent readers!
