The youngest of seven animal siblings, Lucy, Bruce, and Oliver are sick and tired of being told that they are too young to do the things their older siblings do. In a bout of bored frustration, they band together to form the Sib Squad—a club of their own dedicated to having “amazing, mind-blowing adventures.” And adventures they have! Award-winning cartoonist Steve Breen crafts a riotously fun look at sibling dynamics that will be beloved by downtrodden younger siblings everywhere. In Hole Lotta Trouble!, the squad try their hand at robotics and find themselves drawn into a wormhole, where they face a whole lot of trouble.

SIB SQUAD: HOLE LOTTA TROUBLE! is a silly, adventure-filled graphic novel. This is a new adventure of the Sib Squad, the three youngest children in their family who are left out of doing things with the older kids. The story features two main plots. In the first, they decide to make a robot to do their chores, though they make the robot a bit too smart. In the second, they go through a wormhole, back to the time of the dinosaurs, and they need to survive and find their way back!
What I loved: This is an entertaining and clever graphic novel that keeps readers on their toes. There are plenty of silly moments and lots of comedy that feels very relatable to young elementary school readers. While there is a touch of potty humor, there are also a lot of other fun things to laugh out throughout the book. The main characters and their antics will be very relatable to readers, as they want to get out of doing chores and have adventures. While their adventures may be a bit more absurd and wild, children will enjoy the imagination elements of it all!
The book does a great job of balancing dialogue with images. The text is easily attributable and the illustrations help to tell the story, which is perfect for a graphic novel. The amount of text and the large size makes this a great pick for independent readers who will be able to easily follow along.
Final verdict: SIB SQUAD: HOLE LOTTA TROUBLE! is an engaging and humorous graphic novel that independent readers will find relatable and easy to giggle along with!
