Jasmine is headed to her Great Grandma Caroline’s 100th birthday. She knows that’s a very long time to live, its longer than her goldfish, her hamster, and probably her dog so she has one question for Great Grandma Caroline. How did she get to be so old?

What I Liked: In this book children will learn the secret that comes with growing older which includes patience, determination, and faith. Great Grandma Caroline teaches this to Jasmine by showing her how to skip stones in the lake. As she teaches her this, she also reminds her that the important thing about growing old is to be around family and friends who love you.

The illustrations throughout this book do a fantastic job of highlighting the relationship between Jasmine and her Great Grandma. The illustrations go along well with the text and do a great job of bringing this story to life for younger readers. This book is great for teaching young readers about taking things slow, and learning how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

Final Verdict: A Century for Caroline is a sweet story highlighting the wisdom that comes from our elders and sharing the secrets for living a long, beautiful life. Children will enjoy learning from the relationship in this book, and sharing about their grandparents.
