A Place to Hide has the stories of many survivors of hiding WWII Jews. They were hidden by the brave men and women who dared to hide them in their homes and businesses. They could have been killed or arrested, but succeeded.
In Holland, Miep Santrouschitz protected the Franks and their friends in a warehouse and in the attic of her office. A character who they based Schindler’s List upon hired many Jews to work in his Czechoslovakian factory. Many Jews were saved in an Italian monastery. These stories and more are included in A Place to Hide.
I liked the story of the Italian monastery the most. It was very different. Pettit’s work is recommended to ages 10 and up. I would rate this 3 stars for some dull moments and some intrigue.
