Anne Frank: A Photographic Story of a Life (DK Biography)
User reviews
Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl is indeed the diary of Anne. She wrote in a journal while in hiding during the invasion of the Nazis in the Netherlands. She and her family hid in the upstairs of an office building for two years, from 1942 to 1944. There were many things on Annes mind, but there was no one she could tell everything to. So she named the journal she received for her thirteenth birthday and addressed each entry to Kitty. She opened her heart and let her thoughts flow. She vented about the bickering between her parents and the other family they hid with, the Van Daans, and wrote about their daily troubles confined in the attic. She put all her feelings and emotions on the pages of her diary. Reading this book was truly an experience; I went through it all with Anne. I could feel what she was feeling, as far as Im able to for only one who had experienced such a thing can understand, but I could sense the tension, sadness, fear, and the rare feeling of happiness that Anne felt throughout her time in the Secret Annexe.
I believe this is a must-read for young girls, for it stretches the thoughts of the reader about courage, strength, fear, and sorrow. It teaches the reader a lot about the simple things in life and the terrible times both Anne and so many others had to endure. This book truly opens the eyes of the reader and makes them take a look at the big and small things in life.
Beeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaauuuuuuttttifull autobiography.Anne Frank was one of the greatest autobiography I ever read. Its a story of a jewish girl with great ambitions and a pretty and fragile soul. Her and her family are forced to hide in an office with another family in the rough times of World War 2.Shut away from the world were Nazis are occupying Holland Anne records her vivid experiences in her diary during this war. They face many obstacles like hunger, boredom but worst of all the ever-present threat of death. After the family is revealed to the Getsapo her diary is left in the whereabouts.Anne and her family were seperated and put into concetration camps.Anne already sick at the time died a few days after her sisters death at the beginning of March 1954 barely 16.I loveed this autobiography because its heart gripping and tells the story of spirited young woman whose dreams were cut short.
Anne Frank is a true story about a young girl who grows up during the Holocuast. The story about she and her sister and their stuggles together. She herself is Jewish. They flee to a house where they are unable to be seen. But somebody in the household who know where Anne and her family and friends live tell on them and they are sent to the Nazi's to the concentration camps. But I do warn you it is very depressing. I cried. Even My family had a lump in their throats. Not all of it is depressing some of it is quite emjoyable and even funny.
This book caused me to cry - a lot! This young girl lived and died in a time that is only a part of history to us, but she was a real live person who died because the Germans saw every Jew as undesirable.
Just imagine hiding in an attic fearing for your life every day never knowing what it would be like to have a boyfriend or just have fun with friends. Read this and get a little perspective on your life.
I thought the book was just ok. For English we did a Holocaust unit, and to get an 'A' you had to read a book over Christmas vacation(there was two choices). I didn't care for the book because it was about her in hiding, I prefer to read the ones about Concentration Camps. I even fell asleep reading the book one night, which made me want to read the other story instead. It did give really good information about her life and what it was like to be Jewish, just not a real attention grabber. it was kind of boring but Sad that she got caught.
Anne Frank was a remarkable person. From the first entry to the last, she slowly and gracefully matured from your average witty and clever girl into an amazing hero in many lives.
I feel a great resemblence to Anne Frank, as I'm sure many do. She had her fears and she had her thoughts. Most which were hidden in her diary. A diary that will remain a constant inspiration to us all. *
This book is about Anne Frank, a jewish girl. This book tells about the horrors of World War 2. Anne Frank is forced to go into hiding with her family and her dad's employees. They think they will go nuts in 'the secret annex.' I felt SO sorry for these innocent people. See the cruelty of the Nazis in this book. If you want to know what I think, I think that Adolf Hitler was the worst man who ever lived! If you like history this book is for you.
A true tale of a jewish girl during the Holocaust in Nazi Germany. She is cramped in a house with her family, a single man, and a family of three for three years and the book starts off with a whining little girl but as it goes on and she devolpes the whiny girl turni=s into a proper young women.
