Atlas of Prehistoric Animals gives an overview of animals from the past. The oversized book allows for magnificent full-page illustrations on the left side of every page. It was published in 2025, so it contains the most up-to-date information and theories that archeologists have. There is a mix of commonly known prehistoric animals as well as many that were new to me. Since some fossils are sparse and not much is known about them, the book does branch into other theories in the same period, and the history of outdated theories, plus other trivia, to supplement the information given. I do wish there were a glossary to make it easier to skip right to an animal that may be of interest. Also, I am terrible at pronouncing the scientific names and wish a pronunciation guide were included. Overall, fans of prehistoric animals can gain a nice overview. It also does a nice job of feeling inspiring by emphasizing how our knowledge has changed to show that there is still so much to be discovered.
