When a baby sister comes along, it seems she is just too little for anything Will she ever be big enough to play? To whisper secrets? To eat kimchee? Will she always lie there? Scream for no reason? Be so helpless and little? When a baby sister is just TOO LITTLE to do anything, what's her big sister to do but wait and wait and WAIT . . . and dream about what's to come.

Babies, this extremely cute little girl explains, are just plain ignorant. Plus, they can't eat kimchee (a pickled/spicy Korean dish), popcorn, or even ice cream cones. They can't dance or wear big kid clothes, and they don't know a thing about animals. On and on, our heroine goes, detailing all the things babies can't do. But then, Big Sister decides she will be just the one to teach the baby all kinds of things--thus opening the door to their future relationship.

This gorgeously illustrated picture book hits me in a couple of my soft spots: I have an extreme fondness for books about food and ditto for warm-hearted stories about the sibling with new baby bond. BABIES CAN'T EAT KIMCHEE is perfect for a child with (or expecting) a new baby sibling. Parents are sure to enjoy the story, too, along with the energetic and brilliant pictures. Very highly recommended.
