Bookie and Cookie Turn the Page is the follow-up to the popular picture book by Blanca Gomez, and it’s just as charming as the first. In this story, Bookie and Cookie notice how dull their current pages are and start to wonder what might be waiting for them if they actually turn the page.

What I Liked: The best part of this book is the relationship between the two main characters. They are total opposites, which is exactly what makes their friendship work so well. Cookie is the pessimist and the worrier of the group; he’s really concerned that something bad might be lurking on the next page. On the other hand, Bookie is full of wonder and imagination, totally eager to jump into the next adventure

The illustrations are absolutely adorable, especially the scenes where Bookie is imagining what comes next. Those sections look like a child drew them with crayons, and it’s just so endearing to look at.

Overall, Bookie and Cookie Turn the Page is a sweet picture book that shows how books can take you on an unexpected adventure. It’s a story that any book lover—from toddlers all the way up to adults—will really enjoy.
