DIARY OF A MARINE BIOLOGIST is a picture book that takes readers along with Emma for a week of her work as a marine biologist. Readers will get to experience the different aspects of work as a marine biologist, while also getting to read Emma’s notes along the way.

The book covers a variety of the different work done by marine biologists. From recording measurements and tracking animals to searching for new creatures. There isn’t a singular focus, rather it’s spread out to allow readers to experience the different facets of marine biology. Readers are given plenty of details about these jobs as well as why they’re so important.

The art is gorgeous. Simple, but beautiful illustrations that bring the creatures and ocean to life. The intricacies of the drawings depend on what is being shown with some drawings having more details than others. Even the notes are illustrated, adding a level of charm to the book.

This picture book is fun and educational, blending the learning in with interesting facts and even showing how Emma winds down after a week of work. For readers who are interested in marine biology, animals, or even just seeing the work other people do; this book may be of interest.

A fun and educational book following a week in the life of a marine biologist, DIARY OF A MARINE BIOLOGST weaves together information, extra facts, and gorgeous art.
