Every Night at Midnight follows Felix who turns into a wolf each night and has been exploring the city alone. At school, he struggles to make friends since he can’t go to sleepovers and decides it's easier to be alone. That is until there is a new kid at school and a new wolf in town who he instantly befriends. He realizes things are a lot better when you are among your friends.
What I like: This is the perfect story for the fall months when things begin to get a little spooky. The images are darker-themed in mainly blue, black, and white tones. I appreciated the way the author introduced us to the main character and then introduced the new wolf in town. I like that you can guess that this new kid will also be a wolf based on some of the traits she exhibits. I like that this book shows wolves in a different light than we may be used to and shows them as animals who need to belong.
Final Verdict: This is a fun story about friendship and wolves that children ages 4 and up will enjoy. While werewolves may sound like a scary subject to read to children, this is a great book to introduce the concept to children as it doesn’t introduce them as scary animals.
