Nancy believes in always being fancy. She uses a pen with plume. Her bedroom is gussied up to the max. French is the language she yearns to use because "everything in French sounds fancy."
Nancy's family is a bit of a trial to her. They are so NOT fancy. They don't even request sprinkles on their ice cream! So Nancy comes up with a plan--to educate her family on the finer points of how to be fancy.
This book is beyond adorable. Nancy's voice is true, her quest is earnest, and her philosophy is inarguable. The illustrations by Robin Preiss Glasser add to an already irresistible story, starting with the copyright page showing "my room before I made it fancy" and the amazing Nancy herself with her crown, hair bow, hairband reading "Beautiful," ruffly shirt reading "Sublime," purple (I mean "fuschia"!) boa, and more.
Highly, highly recommended for girly-girls and their moms!
