Feelings are like farts takes you through the various similarities that these two have in common. This book teaches you that even while they might be inconvenient, unpleasant, or surprising, you shouldn’t hold either in for too long. It also shows that amongst friends and families, these two are no big deal.
What I Liked: Feelings have a lot more in common with farts that one would have thought. This book is great to encourage children to talk about their feelings with others and to show that a range of emotions is normal and accepted. This book highlights similarities between farts and feelings that you wouldn’t think of on the spot such as feelings are like farts because they can hurt you if you hold them in.
The illustrations in this book are black and white with pops of color shining throughout. The illustrations allow you to focus more on the words in the book and the comparisons that are being drawn regarding feelings and farts. The illustrations add humor as you see children going back and forth between either farting or having various emotions.
Final Verdict: Feelings are like Farts is a engaging and humorous book that does a great job of balancing humor and facts to show children the importance of expressing their feelings. This is a fantastic book for children ages 4 and up, especially those who enjoy toilet humor.
