This hilarious picture book asks life’s most important question: who is the GREATEST OF ALL TIME?
Goat thinks he’s pretty great -- in fact, his name stands for the Greatest Of All Time!

But his farmyard friends want to be G.O.A.T.s, too. They all debate what makes a perfect G.O.A.T. -- being a Good Or Awesome Tap-Dancer? Or a Gorgeous Octopus Arm Twister? Is there only one G.O.A.T. or can they ALL be the greatest? This playful and laugh-out-loud picture book treats kids to hilarious acronyms and fun wordplay, making it the perfect read-aloud story.

G.O.A.T. is the first book in a brand-new picture book series by award-winning Australian authors Kate and Jol Temple! Illustrator Rebel Challenger's vibrant art is sure to be an instant kid-favorite.

Fans of Pig the Pug and Thelma the Unicorn will love meeting these hilarious new animal friends!

Temple has created something absolutely hilarious here! This book had both me and my kids in stitches from the very first page. The concept is brilliant - taking the acronym G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time) and running with it in the most literal, goat-filled way possible.
What I love from a developmental standpoint is how this book plays with language and expectations. My preschooler is just beginning to understand puns and wordplay, and this book is perfect for introducing those concepts in an accessible way. The humor operates on multiple levels - visual gags for younger readers and wordplay for older kids and adults.
The illustrations are absolutely delightful, full of personality and movement. Each character has distinct characteristics and expressions that keep readers engaged and looking for new details on each read-through. My toddler loves pointing out all the different goats and their antics, which is great for developing visual discrimination skills.
From a social-emotional perspective, this book celebrates individuality and confidence in a really positive way. Goat believes everyone is the best at something different, and makes increasingly silly acronyms for them. This reinforces the idea that everyone has unique strengths and talents. It's sparked some wonderful conversations in our house about what makes each of us special (conveyed through excessively silly titles and acronyms).
The energy level is perfect for active readers - there's enough going on to keep high-energy kids engaged without being overwhelming. This book is just pure fun, and sometimes that's exactly what we need in our reading repertoire.
