Here Is A Book is a beautiful picture book by Elisha Cooper that won a Caldecott Honor. The book takes readers through the process of creating a story and having it published, as well as highlighting all the many people who have a role in the process.
What I Liked: The book thoughtfully breaks down the process of book publishing and all its steps in a simple, easy-to-understand way. There is great educational value in this book, and it's something I can see teachers using to explain the roles of an author and illustrator in creating a book. Cooper's use of watercolor illustrations gives the book a dreamy feel. I enjoy looking at the little details she includes in her illustrations like the author playing with her cat.
Although Here Is A Book is aimed at young readers, I think that any book lover will enjoy this gorgeous and informative book.
