LET'S GO HOME, BABY PENGUIN is a cute, interactive board book. The book features several winter animals with a track to help them get home. The facing page includes some things to search for amongst the track scene for a small search-and-find task.
What I loved: The animals are well selected to suit the wintery theme, including penguins, reindeer, polar bears, and seals. The tracks are fantastic for building hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as children move the small cardboard coin along the designated track. The book is self-contained, and I love that the little cardboard coins are sealed in the tracks, so there are no pieces to keep track of and the book can easily be used on the go.
The search-and-find task on each page adds to the fun as readers get older and keeps them exploring each scene. The images are well drawn with plenty to visually explore and a great use of color and details. The baby animals find their way home to their families (described just as a big animal), which keeps them caregiver neutral and open to many different family interpretations.
Final verdict: LET'S GO HOME, BABY PENGUIN is a cute board book that works well for toddlers and young preschoolers as they build their fine motor coordination.
