In Lone Wolf Goes to the Library, you meet Wolf, who has an overdue library book that just has to be returned today. If this book fails to get back to the library, Wolf will never be able to check out a book again. Wolf has until the end of story time to return this library book, which is part of why Wolf doesn’t like going to the library. Will Wolf be able to get the book returned in time? Will he manage to do this and avoid other people?

What I Liked: Wolf is a fun, lovable character who is always grumpy, and children who enjoy being on their own will be able to relate to him. This book is great for children who may be hesitant to read on their own or are looking for beginning chapter books. The scenes when Wolf gets to the library are hilarious as he is trying to avoid the children and return his book on time. Wolf will do anything to get his book turned in, even if that means he has to make his way through all the children there at storytime using them to call attention to the librarian.

The illustrations throughout this book add a layer of humor as you follow along with Wolf's silly antics. Children will enjoy as Wolf waits for his mail and finally gets a letter, only to find that the other letters were blown away by the wind to various places. Adults will laugh as they relate to this scenario of losing mail only to find it when the deadline is looming over them.

Final Verdict: Lone Wolf Goes to the Library is a silly book full of sarcasm that is great for children learning to read or to read aloud with a group of children. If you are a fan of the Lone Wolf books, then this is one that you must pick up to add to your collection. Children will enjoy learning about the rules of the library and watching as Wolf struggles to get his book returned.
