LOST AND FOUND JIGSAW BOOK is a unique and interactive story with a puzzle on each page spread. The book tells the story of a lost penguin and the boy who tries to help him find his home. The heartwarming story is accompanied by a puzzle image that children can take apart and put together on each page spread.
What I loved: This is a very sweet story about home, helping others, and friendship. The story features several sentences on each spread that can be read alone or with the interactive puzzles. The illustrations are lovely throughout, capturing key scenes on each page. The use of color and detail helps to set the mood and atmosphere well.
In terms of the puzzles, I appreciate that they fit tight into the frame of the pages on which they are given, so that when placed, they hold inside the book well. Additionally, the image of the puzzle is also behind it, so that if a puzzle is lost, the book can still be read and visualized. A notch in the corner makes it easy to take out the pieces to do the puzzles, which works well as an activity book. The puzzles themselves are not too complex with 12 pieces per puzzle and a matching illustration underneath to help match up to.
What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the puzzles could be a bit tricky for little ones and might be too simple for older readers, so it can be tough to match the age just right on this one. They are a bit tricky because of the tight way that they snap together, which can be challenging for little fingers. This may work better if the puzzles are done on the floor next to the book and then transferred in after doing. For older readers, these may seem too simple with so few pieces and an illustration to match with.
Final verdict: LOST AND FOUND JIGSAW BOOK is a sweet board book with a heartwarming story and a puzzle activity that will engage young readers.
