MAKE MORE S'MORES is an adorable picture book about sharing and friendship. Roscoe the raccoon is making s'mores when along comes Grizzly, so Roscoe shares his s'more with him before settling in to make more. When two bear cubs show up, they give their s'mores to them. Roscoe then plans to make more for all of them, even though he has not had one yet, but his stick breaks. The other animals help out and they all get to enjoy their s'mores together. The story ends with Roscoe settling down to sleep with a belly full of s'mores.
What I loved: This is such an adorable book about sharing and friendship. The story is written in rhyme which rolls off the tongue and captures all the feelings around sharing and including others. While Roscoe demonstrates unlimited patience, Grizzly shows the other side with his impatience and reluctance to share, reflecting the way some children may feel. In the end, sharing makes them all happy and they all get more s'mores.
The font used throughout is large, which helps in reading aloud. It is also strategically placed and colored on each page, which is much appreciated, especially if reading this book in low light settings, such as bedtime. The illustrations are cartoonish and adorable, capturing the personalities of each of the characters along the way. With pages that turn quickly and plenty to visually explore, this is a book that will work well for toddlers and preschoolers.
Final verdict: MAKE MORE S'MORES is a charming and cute picture book about sharing, friendship, and the appeal of s'mores!
