MOON'S LULLABY is a sweet bedtime story. Mama Goose and her goslings are settling down for the evening, when the goslings ask her to tell them the story of the Moon's Lullaby. As she does, the goslings repeat the actions of the animals who are settling down in the evening, such as the scurrying of the rabbits and the flap of grasshopper wings. As the story continues, the actions become more settling, until they settle down for the night together.

What I loved: This is a sweet read, great for bedtime. The story being told to the goslings is also being shared with the reader, who will relate to the little geese and their journey to bed. The story feels gentle and settling with text that becomes more soothing as the story continues. The illustrations likewise become more muted and darker in color as the story continues and the night settles in, also helping to lead to bedtime and sleep.

The illustrations and images are sweeping and lovely throughout with the adorable goslings as well as the many other animals mentioned who are also settling down for the night. The images include much detail with nature backdrops stealing the show with lush skies and lovely flowers.

What left me wanting more: As a very small thing, the text could be challenging to read on some pages, where it is in a black font against darker blue backgrounds. This is particularly challenging at bedtime, when lights are low, but which the book would otherwise be fantastic for!

Final verdict: MOON'S LULLABY is a sweet bedtime pick that soothes and settles through its gentle text and lush illustrations. Recommend for preschoolers and young elementary school aged readers.
