MY FIRST 123 is a cute counting board book with flaps to lift. The pages are divided into panels with a certain number of objects or animals for children to count (one to twenty) and a flap that hides the same number of a related object. For example, there are 20 dogs on the last page, and a flap made of one of the dogs hides 20 balls.
What I loved: This is a fun and engaging way for toddlers to practice counting up to twenty. There is a great variety of objects and colors, including everything from owls to planets, and boats and more. The flap elements add some fun with an extra counting task for most numbers. The illustrations are really fantastic throughout with use of bright color and variety amongst objects/animals to keep young attention spans hooked.
What left me wanting more: The flaps have a very small place where they are glued onto the book (not built in), so rough readers will make quick work of this rip-the-flap book. When that happens, there is then one less object to be counted, as the flap was one of the objects. Additionally, the items are not always in rows or lines, which can make it a little tricky for toddlers to keep count and not double count or miss counting some of the animals/objects.
Final verdict: MY FIRST 123 is a colorful and engaging counting book that allows readers to go from one to twenty! Recommend for toddlers who want to practice their number skills.
